This is it Gang. My final log entry for the 2000/2001 ski season. My home mountain Hunter closed for the season on April 15th. I managed to get the day before closing. My buddy Tim was up for a day of sunshine and spring skiing. Early bird gets the chair. We hit the snow at 8:30 and skied bumps all day. I started the day on a K2 MOD-X 174cm, with the Freedom Factory Monster Binding, this is a fun ski. In the morning it was a bit cold with hard, crusty conditions. The MOD-X was great. I was impressed how well the 174cm held up on the hard pack. It turned like a dream with great edge control. We hooked up with Steve Goodman at the summit and the fun began. After a few runs I popped out of my binding. It was my fault, I think I mounted the bindings a bit too far apart. I switched to the HEAD Super Cyber Cross 180cm, another fun ski. The snow was getting soft and I was getting warm. So it was time to shed, off with the coat and helmet. There were some bare spots here and there but nothing to cause a problem. Actually it was part of the challenge. After skiing all the runs we settled into mixing up a few good ones. Hellgate was bumped up, and on a day like this it earns its name. Cliff was also bumped to the max. But the runs had some good lines and it was great skiing. Tim had a meeting, So Steve and I skied until 1pm. After lunch we hit the snow again for the last few runs. The west side was still a bit crusty but we gave Way Out a run. Back to the front we hooked up with Tim again and skied the rest of the day in great sun shine. We skied a total of 31,765 vertical feet in 21 runs. This was a great season, thirty days on snow and a lot of great turns. I met a lot of great people this year. I will be posting a season wrap up in a week or so to review all my technical findings. Again I thank Scott Berwick and the Hunter staff for all their help. Thanks to the Ski Bums of NJ for running great bus trips. Most of all I give thanks, glory and honor to God, for blessing me with the opportunity to bless you through this web site. Thank you Jesus. See you all in November, God willing. Have a great and blessed summer.
