The new Torque monoski from DynAccess
Hi Gang, My name is Tom Cannalonga, I host sitski.com. I have been a sit skier
since 1995. I was an instructor with the Adaptive Sports Foundation for 5 years and I am PSIA Adaptive leve2. I have built, rebuilt and repaired many mono-skis over the years.
I have skied many monoskis over the years.
I had an opportunity to ski the new Torque mono-ski from DynAccess.
This is a nice machine. Sturdy, good looking and very well made. The first thing you might notice is the monster size shock in this mono. The Torque sits a bit higher then I am use too so getting in it was a little tricky but well worth the effort. I find the seating position to be very comfortable. The seat angle under thigh is an aggressive 40 degrees and I like it. This is a very different seating position then I am use to skiing in and I was surprised how easy I took to it. I was skiing with Joachim of DynAccess the designer and creator of the Torque. It was easy to load the chair lift. As I said the mono sits high, so all you need is a little lift with your riggers and you are in. The chair ride was good. Sitting a little foreword and higher then I am use to but very stable. Getting off the lift was a little sticky, it was very warm out and the seat cushions were soft.
As I skied down the offload ramp and cleared the load area I was very impressed how responsive the Torque is. The suspension feels amazing. It sucked up the offload so smooth and this mono turns on a dime. It amazed me how little movement it took to transfer to the snow. Sitting high up and foreword right over the sweet spot of the ski was great. I had total control with little rigger movement. As I took to the trail I mixed up some medium to long turns, what a great feeling, floating over the snow mixing up turns with no effort. And not really seeing me feet was weird. The seating position drops your feet down a bit, unlike my Rev where my feet are more in front of me. On the next run I rolled it on edge to see how it carves. Well, like a dream. Again, very little movement to engage the ski and the added height lets that ski get way out there to suck up the G’s.
Then I skied some of the shortest turns ever, amazing response. This thing ROCKS!
We stopped on the trail and Joachim adjusted the shock and made it softer. The amount of adjustment is impressive. The ski felt even softer if that was possible. This is a great all mountain ski for any skier, beginner to expert and pro.
The Torque is bullet proof, built to be skied and skied hard. Quality like I have not seen in years. I wish I was feeling better and was able to launch off something.
If you are a monoskier you owe it to your self to try this ski. Contact DnyAccess and find out where the next demo is.
