Off-Road Wheelchair

Lets go Off-Road with Grove.

06-17&18-97 Mount Snow, Vermont.

This is it. The Grove Innovations DH-X1 Off-Road Mountain chair.

It is a lean, mean, racing machine.

Scott Wilson took 1st place, The Gold, at the NORBA World Cup amateur Down Hill
in this chair. Way to Go Scott, You are KING of the Mountain.

I did get a chance to ride the Grove. This off-road
mountain chair has a very smooth ride. With a fully active 6" rising rate
suspension at all four wheels, this BAD BOY eats up any bump, jump, hole
or log you can find. The DH-X1 is very stable and very fast. I did not get
to take the DH-X1 to the top of the mountain, but the runs I did take, off the
service road, where very exciting. And the "ditch test" was un-real. The
ditch test is a big water ditch about four feet deep and about six feet wide.
You ride down one huge water rut filled with big rocks and logs and head
straight down into "the ditch" at the end. It looks scary. You feel like the
chair will just stop dead, or end-over, when you hit the ditch, but the Grove
suspension just eats it up. You roll out the other side of the ditch with
a great feeling of security.

One of the racers flipped the Grove, and "tacoed" the wheel.
Not a problem. The rider was okay. One new rim, and some spokes and the
Grove was ready to race again. The Grove DH-X1 is a very serious contender
in the sport of off-road wheelchairs. The DH-X1 has FOX Alps 5R shocks,
custom Phil Woods Hubs with oversized bearings, AMP Research D-1 disc brakes,
Sun Rhyno light 26 rims, adjustable seat and foot rests, fully Tig welded
4130 Cro-moly steel and 3AL-2.5V Titanium construction. It is bicycle shop
serviceable and has a lifetime frame guarantee.
