It all began just as a normal day
Until the planes hit and took our families away
The planes, hijacked, how could it be?
These terrorists pulled it off so easily
We thought it couldn't happen to us, we let our guard down
It's sad it took a tragedy to turn things around
Our New York skyline, was left without
Although our hearts are strong our minds do doubt
Will we ever move on? go on with our lives?
It is a question for those missing children, fathers and wives.
We weep with them not knowing what's ahead
A heartless act of terror now leaves so many dead
Those we lost will be in our hearts always
The memories we'll keep with us, through all our days
So while we mourn and pray for lives lost
We have heroes trying to save others no matter the cost
Firefighters and officers working at ground zero
They stop at nothing, they're America's hero
They won't get away with it that's for sure
Well show them were stronger, defeat them in war
They meant to break us, to tear us apart
but this nations united, attached by the heart
We'll stand proud and keep our heads high
Waving our flags way up in the skyv
It is in God we trust, and surely we do
I'm proud to be an American,
cause we stand together no matter what we go through.
