Strange R&D
Strange R&D F1 Sit Ski

Company Profile

A little background info on myself and Strange R&D. I met Stacy in 94 just months prior to the Games, a mutual friend got us together to talk about bikes. I started designing a 4 wheeler the next day. I've been building mountain bikes in Banff since 90, doing some racing and selling bikes to friends. I didn't see Stacy again until after the Games. After many discussions, we felt that great things could be accomplished by working together.

A few months later we began the partnership of Outlet Disabled Athletics. Stacy's instant authority on sit skiing dictated that we begin developing an all-out racing sit ski, before a bike. In the four years that we worked as a Team, Stacy's riding improved because of what the sit ski could handle and the sit ski improved because of the torture that Stacy put it through. He was able to give back accurate information so that the balance and performance could be enhanced to perfection. His destructive testing is our Engineering, "Build it, Break it, Build it stronger." Breakage is no longer a concern, if the welding is up to spec. That is one of the major downfalls of both Halls Wheels "the beast" and One Step Beyond's attempts to produce these units. Both companies took liberties with our design and produced an inferior product that we were not able to endorse as our design. I do not have any agreements with Hall's wheels so I cannot prevent him, so I am told, from building an unsafe copy of our design. One Step Beyond has stopped production after several production units failed visual inspection and destructive testing. Outlet Disabled Athletics was dissolved in 99, but my passion for building things burns on.

The Ball is back in my court now. Strange Research and Development was created to carry on with the work that needs to be done to enable people to free themselves through sports. We are dedicated to maintaining the bench mark of performance sit skis and will be offering a complete unit available mid-September.
